Frequently Asked Questions:
Where are you located?
We're located at 4338 Main St. Suite 105. It's a second floor clinic just north of 28th on the east side of Main St. and just above Cinephile Video, Voltage and Mainly Organics.
What do you offer?
We provide the services of acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine or massage therapy in a relaxed and beautiful five room clinic.
Are all your therapists registered?
Yes. All acupuncturists and massage therapists are registered with their respective licensing associations, i.e. CTCMA and MTA.
Are acupuncture and massage therapy covered by my insurance plan?
Yes. Extended medical plans cover both acupuncture and massage therapy, but your amount of coverage varies depending on your individual health plan. MSP now covers acupuncture for all low-income patients, those making under $28,000/year. Under the MSP plan, $23 is taken off of up to 10 treatments per year.
What does acupuncture treat?
Acupuncture is an ancient healing technique originating in Asia that utilizes sterile needles to activate and transform the energy of the body. Techniques vary depending on the practitioner, but all acupuncturists at Balance Acupuncture & Massage have been fully trained and certified to provide the safest and most effective treatment for you.
Does it hurt?
No. People generally feel a sensation during acupuncture, but if there is ever pain, the needles can be adjusted so that it stops. It wouldn't be a very effective treatment if the patient were in pain.
What is massage therapy?
Massage therapy, often referred to as bodywork or somatic therapy, refers to the application of various techniques to the muscular structure and soft tissues of the body that include applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, vibration, rocking, friction, kneading and compression using primarily the hands, although massage therapists do use other areas of the body, such as the forearms, elbows or feet. All of the techniques are used for the benefit of the musculoskeletal, circulatory-lymphatic, nervous, and other systems of the body.
